Long Term Plan consultation 2021

The Porirua City Council Long Term Plan (LTP) Consultation is underway for 2021. The LTP sets the direction, priorities and budgets for the city for the next 30 years, and details the planned services, activities and projects for Porirua, and how Council will pay for them. Community input is essential to make sure the council have the right focus. Public consultation is open from 26 March 2021 to 27 April 2021.

Community Garden Picnic

Saturday 27th March 2021, 4pm – 7pm (ical)
Venue: Community Food Forest Garden, by Muri Station (map)

Welcome to all those interested in the garden project, their friends and families. Come along for a picnic in the gardens to celebrate the end of summer and work done to date. Bring your own drink and food to share, plates, utensils etc (our BBQ will be available). The thermette will also be in action for hot drinks. We look forward to seeing you there. Everyone welcome.

Bookbinding Workshop, Mana Arts Society

Household Emergency Planning & Earthquake Drill

Come along and practice working together as a community during a disaster and get tips on how you and your whānau can stay safe and get through.

  • Ensure those in need are supported
  • Overcome potential challenges together

Approval of previous minutes: Mel requested his comments re coordination of residents’ groups for feedback to Waka Kotahi on future use of SH1 be included.
Motion to receive with amendments: moved Paul, seconded Iain, motion carried.

National Warning: Tsunami Threat

There is a tsunami warning in effect for most of New Zealand following an 8.1 earthquake in the Kermadec Islands region. Please monitor the official Civil Defence sources for more information:

As of 10:30 am today (5 March 2021) People in all New Zealand coastal areas should:

  1. Listen to the radio and/or TV for updates, or check www.civildefence.govt.nz
  2. Listen to local Civil Defence authorities and follow any instructions regarding evacuation of your area
  3. Stay out of the water (sea, rivers and estuaries, this includes boats)
  4. Stay off beaches and shore areas
  5. Do not go sightseeing
  6. Share this information with family, neighbours and friends

Evacuation advice overrides the current COVID-19 Alert Level requirements. Listen to local Civil Defence authorities and follow any instructions regarding evacuation of your area. If you are told to evacuate do not stay at home. Stay 2 metres away from others if you can and if it is safe to do so.
