A message from the Pukerua Bay dairy

Due to illness and the lockdown conditions, opening hours may vary. Most days, the dairy will be open from 9am till 7pm. Please remember to use the COVID-19 Tracer App or sign in. The QR code is on the door. Please wear a mask or bring evidence if there is a medical reason not to wear one.

And a message from our community: Thank you Chandry and Cheryl for keeping the store open at this difficult time – we are grateful!

COVID-19 response update

Pukerua Bay’s COVID-19 response group has now met several times. It’s all systems go for activating our network of support. We have 18 street champions covering all of the Bay.

Last year, we also had a layer of volunteers. This became a little too complicated but what did work really well was all the support neighbours gave each other. If you had a local Facebook group or phone tree last time, maybe you could start it again?

For more information, please go to the community website COVID-19 page at pukeruabay.org.nz/coronavirus

To access help, please:

Stay well, Pukerua Bay!

Community response to the Level 4 lockdown

Pukerua Bay’s 2020 Covid-19 response group has met online to re-establish and discuss suitable local responses to the present Level 4 alert.

  • There is a need to plan for escalation beyond 3 days, which would involve reaching out to volunteers.
  • We have agreed it is best to contact street champions to see if they would be keen to help again, and review of geography may be needed. Note that for privacy reasons, the broader volunteer contact details were deleted as agreed in 2020.
  • Porirua City Council has been in touch with the Pukerua Bay Residents’ Association. Speed has meant they haven’t been able to activate anything yet but if you hear of anybody in immediate urgent need, please let us know so we can alert teams that are still working on site at the Council and at the Wellington Regional Emergency Operations Centre. Any links that we are advised of will be made available.

Village Plan survey drop-in session this Saturday!

Hi everyone, a reminder that there will be a drop-in session for completing the Village Plan survey this weekend:

10am-12 pm, Saturday 17 July 2021
at St Mark’s, Rawhiti Road (with Greedy and Co. bikkies to entice you!)

If you prefer to work on paper, we’ll bring printed copies to the drop-in sessions and leave some at the library. They can be returned to the library or dropped off at 2 Pukerua Beach Road. See our Village Plan page for more information.

Do you wish the Council would stop cutting down apple trees? Wondering about what happens to our community when Transmission Gully goes through? Or do you have a great idea for a new facility? Please share your thoughts – this is our chance to make plans for how we want our place to be! ?
