Competition for Porirua Residents' Assocations: "Win a Mural Mosaic"

The Porirua City Council wants to activate hundreds of graffiti reporting volunteers across the city to report graffiti & tagging the same day it appears, so it can be taken down quickly.

Their aim is to get it removed within 24 hours of logging the call. The competition is limited to the local Residents' Associations. PCC proposes to run several competitions each for a 3 month period to see which Residents' Assocation can recruit the most graffiti reporting volunteers.

The winning association is entitled to have installed a Kerry Scott mural mosaic of the association's/community's own design, in the chosen area in their community. The community can actively participate in the creation of the mural and there will be access to a series of workshops covering the creating and installation techniques of the mural.

The first competition starts 1 Nov 2010 and finishes 15 Feb 2011.

All volunteers are encouraged to phone PCC's call centre (237 5089) and log in as a volunteer. They can then choose the street or area they want to adopt. The aim is to have every street covererd by at least two volunteers. You can also fill out the "Adopt a Street" pamphlet, which will be dropped into your letterbox between 29-31 Oct 2010. If you require any further information, please contact Trevor Mason, Graffiti Management Coordinator, PCC on 237 5089.
