Matters Arising
- Wairaka land re-designation
This has been postponed again to PCC meeting of 29 Sep. - PCC Porirua city centre re-vitalisation
Attended by Robyn and Iain. Interesting discussion. Generally positive, though some re-hashing of past issues led to time-wasting. - Village Planning forum
Attended by Dagmar and Iain. Good to hear what is going on in different communities, including those newer to the Village Planning process. Good feeling - everyone loves the process. Great networking. - Discussion re. relationships
Informal discussion confirms there has been an understood set of relationships with other community organisations. Provides the basis for setting up clear processes for supporting grant applications. - Weed killing complaint
Concerns expressed during planting day, though not formally. - Greenmeadows playground
Agreed we need to set up an occasion to consult with youth when we know about the budget. Would also need to know the parameters (e.g. health & safety). Need to let PCC know about issues we know of (e.g. drainage). - Community gardens
Iain sent Dave Gurr copies of the Village Plan and NAP.
Financial Report
Balance $5,573.07 ($1,500 is Tony Jackman's grant). $45.94 to be banked for the digital network.
Correspondence
Inward
- Tennis club right of renewal extended by 21 years, with a right of renewal of 12 years
- PCC Long Term Plan planning papers are available
Outward
- Sent a letter supporting Madcowz Theatre's grant application for a holiday workshop
Village Planning
Iain not sure which version he was supposed to work on. Summary has 90% of main plan, then need to see other version to see what else needs to go on. Mainly the last two sections. Not going to PCC until next month.
Green and Gold Trails
Tony Jackman has the cheque and the poles, but no one has asked him for the cheque. Linda Kerkmeester has met with Hermann Salzmann re. the design for the pou whenua and will arrange for us to meet with him.
Marine Protection
Sorry to hear Tim Bright may be leaving. A greatly valued participant in this process. Progress delayed as we wait for Ngati Toa to get their settlement. Discussion revealed we need to clarify our understandings about legal next steps. Pauline will contact the researcher looking at the marine environment to see if she would be available to talk at the AGM.
Community telephone directory
Pat Hanley is continuing to pursue this. Looking at funding from real estate agents.
Civil Defence
School has been presented with water containers to support their work in preparing for a Civil Defence emergency. Positive response to the Porirua Emergency Response team at the Mayoral Forum. Currently have 16 members, hoping to raise to 30. Team training coming up. Still need to do the stock-take of the scout gear.
Community gardens
Need someone to take a lead in convening a meeting with the interested parties. Lindsay or Gil? PCC has a workshop coming up on community gardens. Ian Barlow notices a change in designation being considered from community purposes to recreation reserve. Checked and this still allows for community gardens. Change in designation would go for consultation. Narrower range of purposes allowed for a recreation reserve.
Muri Reserve
Emails from resident re. access from station to Muri Reserve. Need to confirm with Mark Pettitt of KiwiRail that we want the line fenced off to allow safe access. Discussion last week re. whether we can keep the shelter on the west side station where it is and convert it to a lockable planting shed with a tank on the side for water.
Access from Muri to Pukerua Bay Station
What will GWRC contribute towards implementing better access? (see Simon Kennett's report?) Need to write to Mark Pettitt to get answers.
Planting day
A wonderful planting day. Greatly appreciated the support from PCC, especially the council workers. Iain to send them a card. Ian forwarded them Linda's photos with thanks.
Web site
Would be good to give it a facelift. Invite Sandy (Plimmerton Residents' Association webmaster) to talk about possibilities? Another vehicle for communication is the Facebook page Iain has set up, but not activated.
Email list
Dagmar has the email addresses that came with the survey. Has she typed this up? If so, it can be used to set up an email list. Will allow easier communication for events such as the planting day.
Update from Anita Baker
Focus has been on the Mayoral Forum and preparing for PCC's long term plan.
Update from Ian Barlow
Village planning folk had a stand at the Mayoral Forum day.
Other Business
- Vi Ebert Garden
Plants have been damaged by a weedeater. Top off new puka, daffodils, etc. Follows on from previous damage to verges with over-enthusiastic weedspray. Culprit will once again be NZ Transport Agency contractor (Fulton Hogan?). Ian will put in a complaint. - Entrance sign
Gay Hay has talked to Glen(?) re. the planting around the sign and they will help her to tidy up and revive the planting. Bill Inge spoke to Iain re. lighting and asked if we want to do something about it. Not sure what the concern is, so we need to look and see what our impression is.
Discussion re. second entrance sign at the northern end on the concrete water table. Is part of our NAP. - Skate park mural: Confusion over whether there is supposed to be a mural on boards. Contact new PCC anti-graffiti co-ordinator, Richard Witheford-Smith.
Meeting closed at 9 pm
