Neighbourhood Accessibility Plan
John Grundy from Winnie Laban's office attended to discuss the NAP. Understood NAP may be on the Agenda of NZTA in April. Letters sent to MPs seeking their support. Also spoke to Deborah Hume the new Regional Manager for this region. She was to respond by letter by the end of February regarding the NAP. Meeting planned with Winnie Laban as our local MP. John Grundy to arrange. Suggested the Porirua City Council also attends this meeting.
Drilling along State Highway 1 was noted. This was undertaken by Montgomery Watson. Ian Barlow will check to see if we can get a report of this drilling.
Suggested that key points of Residents' Association position be posted on the website, just to clarify our position and the fact that our focus right now is on the NAP.
Marine Protection
Report of the January meeting with the Ministry of Fisheries
Tim Bright will organise to have the submission from last year sent to the new Minister, Phil Heatley and our MPs. We would also put this file on the website.
Following the workshop with Fisheries in January the intention is to have an extension of the current Rahui which expires in June and then have a regulation come into force in October for 5 years. The regulation will require cabinet approval. Question as to why we want hand lines only.
Village Planning
- Skateboard bowl: Complaint no further action required.
Opening: PCC will organise for 14 March with the Mayor doing the official opening.
Parking notices are to be erected to prevent blocking the gate near the skate park. - Planning for south area of Ocean Parade:
Construction is likely to commence shortly as 2 contractors have been asked to submit bids. It is intended that notice boards will be erected with scientific and cultural information. Gil will liaise with Linda Kerkmeester who will manage this work.
Other Business
